Nigerians have no business printing documents abroad, says Enelamah

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, said that with the latest foreign investments in printing, Nigerians should have no reason to travel abroad to print books and other documents.

Enelamah, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Aminu Bisalla, said this at the 4th Digital Print Solution Expo on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the Ministry supported Skysat technologies for its contribution in industralising the economy and promoting SMEs in the area of digital printing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Skysat technologies is known for its cutting edge digital printing solutions.

“it is not unusual to hear people say they are traveling to Dubai, China or the United States to print their books, magazines and sensitive documents.

“This inevitably leads to the flight of scarce foreign exchange and even more worrisome; it creates jobs in those countries, while the printing industry in Nigeria grasps for breathe.

“Therefore this exhibition by Skysat demostrates that Nigeria entrepreneurs and investors in print business now have access to the latest technology and solutions for office documentation and printing.

“I dare to say that in a very short time, there won’t be any need for Nigerians to travel abroad for any kind of printing work, when they can source it cheaper at home,’’ he said.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, commended Skysat for supporting 500 small and medium-scale entreprises and creating over 2,000 jobs in the country.

Mohammed, represented by Mr. Charles Ojugbana, a Director at the Ministry of Information and Culture, said with the investments by Skysat, Nigerians entrepreneurs now have access to the latest technologies in digital printing.

“I appeal to members of the business community and government institutions to increase patronage of local print shops and press, especially those with cutting edge technology that is exhibited here today.

“By doing this, it will help to strengthen the printing indutsry, reduce the burden on scarce foreign exchange, promote FDIs and create jobs for teeming unemployed Nigerian,’’ he said.

The Managing Director, Skysat technologies said that the company was dedicated to providing cutting edge techonology in digital printing to the Nigerian Market.

He said that the company brought in 50 seasoned engineers trained around the world, to ensure technology transfers to interested Nigerians in the industry.

NAN reports that for the next three days, the exhibition will showcase digital printing solutions for various sectors of the economy such as education, finance, industrial packaging and commercial printing.
